Shiatsu for everybody
Shiatsu is indicated to be as a support for complaints like stress, burn out, fatigue, digestive, respiratory and circulatory problems, emotional and physical pains, anxiety and depression, stiffness, headaches and migraines, menstrual and sleeping problems, menopause, with pregnancy and post-natal.
Everybody can benefit from a shiatsu massage, with or without complaints. Shiatsu is ideally used to prevent illness. In case of chronical complaints, a personal follow-up can be established.
During a massage, it’s sought to get body and mind back in balance, as well as the meridians.
What is shiatsu?
Shiatsu (shi = finger, atsu = pressure) is a body therapy or massage which was developed in Japan by Tokujiro Namikoshi among others, and later by his son Toru Namikoshi.
In Shiatsu we use the thumbs, palms and fingers to put pressure on certain spots on the body. This is performed by the practitioner not by using muscle strength but rather by applying pressure using body weight. In shiatsu the meridians are stimulated to treat the condition. Meridians are also the energy pathways of our body. Shiatsu appears to be particularly preventive and very effective to improve many conditions.
Shiatsu uses 12 principal meridians and 8 extra meridians.

The efficacy of shiatsu is not scientifically proven. Yet it seems very efficient as a prevention and it would improve eventual disorders.
In Japan the education to become an official shiatsu therapist is regulated by the government.
It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing during the massage of 1 hour.
